Shuanggou Sunvo: A Majestic Blend of Art and Liquor

Combining Chinese Taoist Theory and Nature-Inspired Design

Inspired by the grandeur of China's mountains and rivers, designer Guo Xu presents Shuanggou Sunvo, a liquor packaging design that captures the essence of nature and the Taoist philosophy. With its unique blend of artistry and functionality, this design stands out in the world of liquor packaging.

Shuanggou Sunvo is a liquor packaging design that pays homage to the majestic landscapes of China. Guo Xu, the creative mind behind this project, drew inspiration from the concept of "mountain and river" and the harmony found in nature. By combining Chinese Taoist theory and the principles of Yin and Yang, the design team created a black and white bottle that embodies the spirit of the mountains and rivers.

The unique properties of Shuanggou Sunvo lie in its artistic portrayal of high mountains, flowing water, and Zen-like smoke. Through the use of painting techniques, the packaging design creates a visual representation of the natural world. This not only reflects the brand's theme but also highlights the superior raw materials and ecological environment of the wine itself.

The realization of this design involved the use of special paper silk printing for the outer packaging, gilding technology for the main title text, and ceramic material for the bottle. The surface of the bottle features a baked flower design and gilding technology, while the bottle cap is adorned with a solid wooden cork and a self-adhesive paper seal.

With dimensions of 220mm in width, 130mm in depth, and 220mm in height, the packaging size of Shuanggou Sunvo is both practical and visually appealing.

Opening the outer packaging is a seamless experience, with a one-time broken ring mechanism. Once the outer packaging is opened, the bottle can be accessed by tearing off the paper seal.

The Shuanggou Sunvo project began in Shenzhen in August 2016 and was completed in October 2016. It was later exhibited in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province in January 2017, showcasing the design's beauty and craftsmanship.

Throughout the design process, extensive research was conducted to capture the essence of mountains and rivers. By incorporating painting methods and the principles of Taoism, the design team aimed to create a visual representation of mountain water, smoke, and Zen-like natural forms.

Despite the creative and technical challenges faced during production, the team successfully achieved the desired effect. The use of special paper with a similar texture and the refinement of the bottle's surface technology required multiple attempts to perfect.

Shuanggou Sunvo wine is a true testament to the designer's unique perspective on Chinese traditional culture. The blend of a white and black bottle represents the harmony of Yin and Yang, embodying the artistic concept of tai chi. The packaging design, with its smoky and Zen-like landscape, evokes a sense of tranquility and natural beauty.

Shuanggou Sunvo has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that showcase resourcefulness, technical skill, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.
